District Elder Melvyn Little

Suffragan Bishop Melvyn Y. Little, Jr., was born on September 6, 1966 to Anna and Melvyn Y. Little, Sr., in Louisville, Kentucky. He is a lifelong member of Christ Temple Christian Life Center. S/Bishop Little began his Christian service at Christ Temple under the watchful eye, and tutelage of the late Bishop Robert L. Little, his grandfather. He served as an Usher and Sunday School Teacher. Elder Little served in the United States Army and the Kentucky National Guard from 1984-1992, serving his country with distinction, and holds an honorable discharge.

 

Suffragan Bishop Little married the late Andrea Orene Little on June 25,1988. To this union, two (2) sons were born, Melvyn Y. Little, III and Montrell Bre’Shawn Little. They also had one (1) grandson, Maalik Deron Little.

After the demise of Bishop Robert L. Little on May 10, 1992, S/Bishop Little remained a faithful member under the newly elected pastor of Christ Temple Christian Life Center, Bishop Michael E. Ford, Sr. S/Bishop Little served in various capacities, which include, Youth Director, Praise and Worship Leader, CTCLC Choir Chaplain/Member, Trustee, Global Missions Director, Associate Pastor, and Armor Bearer, a role in which he served with godly pride and excellence. He is known for doing whatever his hands find to do with a spirit of excellence.

Suffragan Bishop Little was employed by the Louisville Fire Department and ascended to the rank of captain. He retired after twenty- five years of service on January 1, 2015. He currently serves as the Chaplain for the Louisville Fire Department.

 

After the passing of Andrea Orene Little on June 26, 2014, S/Bishop Little continued to serve God’s house, officiating at funerals, counseling those in crises, visiting and praying for the sick, and joining couples in holy matrimony.

 

 On April 17, 2015, S/Bishop Little was joined in holy matrimony to Gail Denise Little, and was blessed to inherit two more children, a daughter, Bethany Butler, another son, Conrad Webster and four grandsons, Kobe and Jordan Butler, Zaire Webster and Darius Starling Jr.

 

During the PCAFI Annual Holy Convocation, S/Bishop Melvyn Y. Little, Jr., was elected as the Executive Director of the PCAFI Global Missions Auxiliary, and serves under the leadership of the honorable, Presiding Bishop Lambert W. Gates, Sr. He has traveled extensively overseas, ministering to, and assisting CTCLC Kentucky churches, and PCAFI churches in underserved communities. During the PCAFI Holy Convocation in 2020, District Elder- elect Little, Jr., was confirmed a district elder in the PCAFI by Presiding Bishop Lambert W. Gates, Sr. During the PCAFI Holy Convention in 2023 three years later from his last elevation, Suffragan Bishop Little was confirmed a Suffragan Bishop once again in the PCAFI by Presiding Bishop Lambert W. Gates, Sr. 

 

In November 2019, the late Bishop Dr. Michael E. Ford, Sr., asked S/Bishop Melvyn Y. Little, Jr., to pray and consider becoming the pastor of Christ Temple Church in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Through much prayer and dialogue with Lady Gail, his family, and close friends, S/ Bishop Little, along with Lady Gail decided to accept the position as Senior Pastor of Christ Temple Church of Hopkinsville, Kentucky. He and Lady Gail began making the five hour round trip commute from Louisville, Kentucky to Hopkinsville, Kentucky each Sunday, and some Wednesdays (Pre-COVID-19) to tend to the flock.

 

After the Coronavirus pandemic hit the United States, the decision to relocate to Hopkinsville, Kentucky become a strong consideration. As of today, Suffragan Bishop Melvyn Y. Little, Jr., and Lady Gail have successfully completed their transition, residing in Clarksville, Tennessee.

 

God blessed Suffragan Bishop Melvyn Y. Little Jr. to complete some major renovations on the church building, which include; new roof and gutters, signage, painting of the interior and exterior of the building, purchase of a climate-controlled storage shed, remodeling of the sanctuary, which included new furnishings, remodeling of the administrative office and pastor’s study, new sound system, alarm system, COVID Air Purifier System, and they have established an enhanced CTCLC Community Food Pantry. And thanks be to God, the renovations and food pantry were all done without any lingering debt to the church. S/Bishop Little declares, “It is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes.”

 

Suffragan Bishop Melvyn Y. Little, Jr., and Lady Gail are proud to share four adult children; Bethany, Melvyn III, Conrad, Montrell, and Ciara, their daughter-in-love, and Five grandsons; Kobe, Jordan, Maalik, Zaire, and Darius Jr.

 

They are excited about the challenges and victories that lie ahead of them and are committed to serve the body of Christ in whatever way they can.
